What to Plan for a Day at Crab Island

Crab Island is an incredible 30A experience! Not only do you get to experience the most beautiful waters around Destin, but it’s a super fun way to spend your day, bobbing in the emerald waters. There are a few things to plan for to ensure you have the best time possible!

Renting the Right Boat

One of the first things to plan for is that Crab Island is not a physical island, and you need a boat! Crab Island is, in fact, a sandbar where waters fluctuate from 2-4 feet. Not only that, Crab Island is only accessible by boat. So before planning a day at Crab Island, make sure you have a boat lined up! 30A Pontoon Rental has the best boats in the area with luxury pontoons! The pontoons are gorgeous and are fit with 150hp and 200hp engines! They also have double-decker pontoons with a waterslide! You can book one of these luxury boats anytime at (850) 220-6400, or visit www.30apontoon.com.

Choosing the Right Length of Time

Before you head out on the water, it’s a good idea to pre-plan how long you want to spend at Crab Island! For some groups, 4-hours is the max that they can handle in the sun and waves. However, other groups want 9-hours or more! Talk to everyone in your group and see what length is right for you as this can affect the pricing of your rental!

Consider Packing a Lunch or Stopping for Lunch

No matter how long you plan to be on the water, you’ll eventually need food! If you are on a budget-friendly trip to 30A, packing your own lunch is an awesome go-to. Publix has great pre-made sandwiches and other snacks that will pack well! Bring a cooler and some ice! If your group wants the full beach experience, consider visiting Lulu’s! They offer drive-up options for boats and have amazing food!

Hydrate!

We don’t just mean with fun, vacation beverages - drink your water! Even in the shade of your boat canopy, the sun and heat will dehydrate you. Getting severely dehydrated feels awful, and will ruin the day for everyone.

Re-apply Your Sunscreen

Until you’ve experienced a severe sunburn or sun poisoning, it can be easy to not prioritize your spf. However, as locals to the area, we cannot recommend sunscreen enough. Fresh vacation skin burns hard and fast… spare yourself painful showers and nights of sleep with a good spf that is reapplied routinely.

Selfie!!

Regardless of whether or not you are big on social media, you will want to document your trip to Crab Island! It is such a beautiful, one-of-a-kind place that will dazzle you the moment you lay your eyes on it. Plus, you and your favorite people are spending an afternoon of quality time together; pictures make memories truly last forever!

We know you’re gonna love your time at Crab Island, we just want to make sure you are prepared for the best time possible!
